When and Where is the Celebration?
Join Mavin for our annual event that supports and celebrates Mildred & Richard Loving and their landmark Supreme Court victory in 1967 for the right to marry interracially. This victory resulted in the abolition of all remaining laws across all states that made interracial marriage illegal. (Over a dozen states still had laws prohibiting interracial marriage at this time!)
This event is FREE and there will be refreshments, art, live music, live capoeira dance demonstrations, crafts for children, and a chance to meet others who are passionate about civil rights issues. Donations toward Mavin for the important work we do, are gladly accepted and appreciated.
Mavin and other organizations across the nation join together in this celebration in support of the courage of the Loving couple. We encourage you to spread the word, bring your family, and join in on the fun!
Some of this year's sponsors include the City of Seattle Neighborhood and Community Arts Program, Cheeky Cafe, Fuze beverages, Essential Bakery, Kind Bars, PopChips, and Loving Day.
We are excited to see you there!!
